Your Smartphone Will Replace Your Car Keys By 2015 -- Autopia/Wired

Your smartphone has the potential to replace nearly everything else in your pockets, so why not your car keys?

Hyundai is working to do just that, with an embedded NFC tag that allows you to open your car, start the engine and link up to the touchscreen with a simple swipe.

Hyundai outfitted its i30 compact hatch (aka the Elantra in the States) with NFC technology in its “Connectivity Concept” recently shown at its European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. The idea is simple: Nix the key fob and let your smartphone handle it all.

Hard Times? Not For Rolls-Royce And Other Luxury Carmakers -- Wall Street Journal

LONDON—If ever there was a sign that for the super rich, austerity is something that happens to other people, take a look at the results of Rolls-Royce, the British car manufacturer whose customized sedans are a byword for automotive luxury.

The fabled British marque, which Thursday said it would launch a new model in its Ghost range of limousines this year, reported its second consecutive annual sales record in its 108 years of history last year, though overall sales rose only around 1% on year.

Still, selling even a few hundred more cars is big business for Rolls-Royce given that its cheapest model sets a customer back by £170,000 ($272,000).

How Much Does It Cost To Charge An Electric Car?

Twizy vs Leaf: How much would they each cost to charge on a weekly basis with my usage?

How Much Does It Cost To Charge An Electric Car, How Many Times A Week Would I Need To Do It And Is It Worth Buying One? -- Daily Mail

I am a commuter who drives into London on a daily basis. After reading the story that electric cars may soon be the only vehicles to be exempt from the £10-a-day London congestion charge and being increasingly concerned about my carbon footprint, I have been toying with the idea of buying one.

I currently travel ten miles back and forth from the office, Monday to Friday, and roughly drive a maximum of 30 miles over the weekend. My question is how much would it add to my electricity bills and how easy is it to find charging points around London? I have been looking at snapping up either the Nissan Leaf or the Renault Twizy.

He’s a hugely successful Hollywood star and like many would in his position, Ewan McGregor has spent some of his hard-earned cash on a very nice ride.

But the actor isn’t enamoured by flashy sports cars, and instead prefers a vintage vehicle.

He was seen driving around in his classic

VW Beetle in Los Angeles on Thursday. Ewan would have certainly stood out as he whizzed about LA in the shiny blue car, which has matching furry dice hanging from the mirror.

The 41-year-old filled up his beloved vehicle at the gas station and was then seen speeding off with the windows down.

Ewan was clearly making the most of the warm weather and slipped on a pair of sunglasses for his ride around.
