The £100,000 Prang: Hit-And-Run BMW Driver Flips Into Five Mercedes Cars At Showroom -- The Daily Mail
A BMW caused at least £100,000-worth of damage when its driver ploughed through the barriers at a Mercedes Benz showroom into five luxury cars.
The white £60,000 BMW X6, which was written off along with one of the Mercedes, is believed to have flipped over on to its roof before skidding on to the forecourt of the showroom in Bolton.
It hit the first in a row of brand-new cars, thought to be worth about £40,000 each, knocking it on to its side and triggering a costly domino effect.

Luxury Image Suffers After Rolls Royce Recall -- ABC News (Australia)
Rolls Royce, a symbol of wealth and prestige and the preferred automobile of the British Royal family, has taken a hit after issuing a major recall.
Only a handful of cars are affected in Australia, but because they are so expensive, the recalled stock is likely to be worth a lot of money.
But it is the luxury brand's image that will probably feel the most pain.

Beijing Auto Show: The Grammar of Grille -- Wall Street Journal
The future is so bright for the Chinese car industry you have to wear shades. Literally.
Chinese car buyers adore cars with chrome grilles, the more garish and gothic the better. To walk through the Beijing auto show, continuing through May 2, is to be confronted at every corner with a Chinese domestic automobile jeering at you with a mouthful of bling.
“It’s all about face,” said David Goggins, an executive with FAW-Volkswagen, one of innumerable joint ventures between Western carmakers and the Chinese. “It’s about how you show off.”

Jay Leno's Classic Hybrid

The 1916 Owen Magnetic: Jay Leno's Classic Hybrid -- Popular Mechanics
At the dawn of the automotive industry, carmakers were already tinkering with hybrid designs. Perhaps the most interesting in Jay Leno's Garage is the Owen Magnetic, a hybrid car far ahead of its time—which proved its undoing.
People think hybrids are something new, but they've been around since the beginning of the automobile. Ferdinand Porsche built the Lohner-Porsche series hybrid car back in 1901. It used a gas engine to spin a generator that fed electricity to in-wheel motors. In 1917, the Woods Motor Vehicle Company of Chicago offered the Woods Dual Power, a series hybrid that could motor along—at speeds of less than 15 mph—solely on battery power. But I think the 1916 Owen Magnetic might be the most interesting early hybrid of them all.

Porsche's 911: The Macho Car For Mere Mortals -- The Telegraph
Neil Lyndon is pleasantly surprised to stay in control of the new Porsche 911.
'Your entire upper body is locked stiff,” said the Porsche instructor who was sitting beside me in the new 911. “If you are tense, you will transmit that tension to the car which will start to behave more nervously itself.” We were probably doing about 130mph at the time, though I was concentrating so fixedly on the undulating, serpentine stretch of track that satirically passes for a straight on the Thruxton circuit that I wouldn’t have dared to glance down at the speedometer.
I tried to unlock my neck and shoulders and control my breathing. “Look ahead,” urged Rob. “Let your hands follow your eyes and the car will follow too.”

The classic German sedan gets an exciting upgrade.
When BMW rolls out an all-new 3 Series, it's big news, since these have been the benchmark of German sedans for the last 30 years or more.
