Stars And Their Cars: Film Icons Who Went Straight To The Factory To Collect Their Brand-New Cadillacs -- Daily Mail

For the biggest stars of cinema's golden age, success meant a multi-million Hollywood Hills mansion, a luxury Manhatten apartment - and a brand-new Cadillac.

The classic cars became a symbol of success bought by the rich and famous - from American Presidents to Elvis Presley.

But it was also the car of choice for many film stars - and a remarkable archive of photos uncovered in America shows how some of the biggest names went personally to the factory to collect their Cadillacs.

Father-of-four Graham Padmore, 58, is fighting for his life after he lost control of the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder at Woodford aerodrome in Cheshire.

Elon Musk, the creator of the Tesla Model S electric car, has already revolutionised the world twice.

He co-founded PayPal, one of the staple payment methods on the internet, then founded the Space X rocket project, which launched last month and made him the first commercial operator in space.

Now his electric car attempts a motor revolution - packing as it does an electric engine that can do 0-60 in a silent 4.4 seconds, two 'boots' as there is no engine in the bonnet, and 300miles between charges - which, when it comes, only costs £6,40.

A 1964 Cooper Type 61 Shelby King Cobra

Cooper T61 Monaco Shelby King Cobra Ford Car

SPOTTED: This Ford Race Car Is One Of The Rarest And Wildest In The World -- Business Insider

The 1960s were an era of experimentation, whether it was with drugs or cars. Carroll Shelby took a Ford V8 and stuck it in the AC Ace to create the Cobra, one of the most terrifying and legendary cars of the time. Dropping big engines into lightweight cars became a trend with hotrodders everywhere.

Our friend Jason Gavin over at Cool Fords recently saw this rarity from the same era: A 1964 Cooper Type 61 Shelby King Cobra. Six of these cars were built. Like the Cobra, they combine British style with big American power to create a unique race machine.

It only had around 270 horsepower, but it also weighed in the 1,300 pound range. That's a killer combo to make a fast car.

Shop At The Mall For Your $100,000 Tesla -- CNN

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CNNMoney) -- Wanna check out Tesla's new Model S sedan? Don't go looking for a dealership along some suburban highway. You won't find one. Instead, try your local shopping mall.

If you're wondering who goes to a mall to buy a car, the answer is "nobody." At least not yet.

And that's the point, says George Blankenship, who formerly helped create Apple's chain of retail stores and who is now leading Tesla's sales strategy.

Man Attacka A Ferrari 612 Scaglietti With An Axe

A Scottish Vandal Went Absolutely Nuts On This Ferrari -- Business Insider

Oh the horror! What could drive man to commit such an unthinkable, pernicious act against a heavenly machine?

Rajinder Singh, a property developer living in Scotland, wish he knew the answer to this question. Last month a masked ruffian was caught on camera attacking Singh's Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with an axe as it sat at a workshop waiting for repair. Then, as an automotive coup de grace, the attacker stabbed the tires with a knife before sauntering away. Cold blooded, we know.

This bizarre looking sports car wouldn't look amiss on the set of the latest Batman movie.

But while Cate Blanchett and Christian Bale were filming scenes for Knight of Cups in Venice, California, a mystery man was driving this 'batmobile' around London.

Wearing a Black helmet and full leathers, the driver of this black KTM with a Kuwaiti licence plate seemed very keen to keep his identity a secret as he drove through Hyde Park to Knightsbridge in London earlier today.

The Most Incredible Model Ferrari That Took 15 Years To Build

The Most Incredible Model Ferrari In The World Took 15 Years To Build -- Business Insider

Most people are not willing to spend more than a few hours building a model car. But this French man, Pierre Scerri, spent tens of thousands of hours working on a one third scale model of the Ferrari 312 PB.

By his estimation, he spent at least 20,000 hours building the model. That's 833 total days.

The first three years of the project were spent taking pictures and making drawings. The subsequent 12 were spent fabricating every single component of the car from scratch.

The Fastest Amphibious Car In The World

WATCH: This Could Be The Fastest Amphibious Car In The World -- Business Insider

Amphibious cars have always been a strange breed.

They need to perform on the land and the water, but they frequently turn out to be lackluster in both environments. On the roads, amphibious cars are awkward to drive and on the water they tend to be dog slow.

Now, one company has designed a car that they claim is the fastest amphibious car ever. There's just one problem with that.

The speed of M. Witt's Sea Lion hasn't been verified, but it looks like it could be quite fast.
